The Conflict Between Temperament and Conscience
In this essay, twain talks about the conflict between temperament and conscience. He says that if we want to do pleasure principal calculations, those calculations break down or they lead to counter antutive results. The pain of berading his servant will be greater than the satisfaction of going off on her. This example complicates things in a few ways because the future is kind of fuzzy to us.
