Are You Focusing on Earnings Per Share or Revenue Growth?

Most of the work that I do is focused on the earnings per share estimates kind of the more bottom line number. When analysts raise their forecast for earnings, they're almost always going to be also raising their forecasts for revenues and for margins. It's very rare to see them raise their earnings, but lower their sales numbers or vice versa. So if you know which way earnings are going, you pretty much kind of know which direction the other items are going as well.
