The Importance of Non-Verbal Communication
"We need to be prepared for the unusual reaction or the reaction we're not expecting," she says. "It's so important that we make connections with patients and families." The good thing is it's actually quite easy to do, according to Betty. People want to have connection to their treating team. But how do we do it? For us we're restricted. That connection has to come at the bed space in the family waiting room or our family meeting room. And we do it through language and we do it via nonverbal communication.
