Perception

Many of us would think it's the same as attention, but it's something far different. For one thing, you can attend in a number of modalities. We have these senses which guide us a certain amount to the nature of reality and they can be mistaken at times. But generally speaking, they're pretty good at orientating themselves to the context. So much so that they can give rise to a visual illusion, which is quite extraordinary.
