Our brain is always constructing concepts on the fly from past experience in order to make sense of incoming sense data. And i's doing it predictively, as we talked about. So you have many concepts you could construct for an aching stomach or an ache in your chest. There's tightness. And tightness can have many causes. It's a reverse inference problem, and your brain's got a guess what's the most likely cause. The classical view of emotion realfies emotion in a way that am a more constructionist approach really doesn't. You are the only person who can change your distress, i is you. Doesn't mean you can snap your fingers and feel differently
