What Are the Daily Protein Needs of an Endurance Athletes?

The general recommendation is to aim for protein intake of about 1.7 to 1.8 grams per kilogram body weight per day. Endurance athletes clearly need about twice the amount that a non-athletic person would consume. It's not that there is a disadvantage to consuming more, but I'm not convinced at least from the data that we have that consuming anymore would be any more beneficial,. So 1.8 seems to be a reasonable number to shoot for.
