I Love the Analogy to a Cigarette Company
I love that analogy to cigarette companies, because I think it shows that there's something about human nature that we kind of want to have our cake and eat it too. There's just the appeal of all the benefits without the costs and deep down we know that's almost never possible. What makes this a loser is not actually that the tech is deficient, that it's not sufficiently advanced yet. It's that we're seeking a technological solution to what is ultimately really a spatial problem. We probably could achieve a high degree of automated driving in the US.
