The race directors do a good job trying to give people enough notice, but sometimes it doesn't happen that way. In May of 2021, at an ultra marathon in China, 21 people died when they went up in a snowstorm and couldn't get back down. "We don't want to control mother nature. We want to be the puny little dot on in the universe," he says.
