Thrombocytopenia - What Is Rapid Occurrence Hit?

Thrombocytopenia is coming from both consumption of platelets at the site of thrombosis and from being activated, as well as being removed by our good old friend the spleen after being coated with antibody. So it sounds like when a patient gets exposed to any type of heparin in their blood, it can bind to a platelet factor 4 and some people cause an immune response in which antibodies are formed against this complex. And that's going to cause platelet activation, aka platelets are going to get angry.
