How to Prepare for a Race Day
When they're talking about specifically months prior to the race, you're just talking about normal training preparation. You'll probably finish a build phase and then be in a bit of a specialty phase and then have a taper week going into your event. So it depends upon what kind of training you've been doing and how much structured training is applied before your event. But yeah, that's generally what you see leading up to an event.
