I can still watch a movie made in the 1930s and 40s and forgive everything. Every movie making convention that today would not pass muster if it's done well. Like trying to figure out... Because also I think from a psychological perspective, like with the introspection illusion is you ... You rarely can take people at their word when they tell you why they did what they did or thought what they thought or felt what they felt because the antecedent to that fault-feeling behavior might be something they're unwilling to say out loud.
