How to Deal With an Emotional Flashback

The feeling of being emotionally dysregulated can be compounded by shame and all of these associated bad feelings and negative core beliefs about the self. One of the first things that can kind of diffuse an emotional flashback or a really dysregulated state is just uh self-compassion practices. When people get stuck in an emotional state it's because they're actually not allowing themselves to process it and express it. The best way to help a child calm down when they're feeling really upset is just to really empathize and be compassionate.
