Introduction

Expressive suppression is the term that refers to a reduction of facial expressions or other reactions, like outward reactions to an emotion. It's something we learn growing up, but it can have pretty negative fects on our lives if it ends up being the dominant way that we manage our emotions. We're going to be diving into some of the research about that, some related ways of managing emotions. And then, as always, at the end, we're going to talk about some techniques and some tools that you can apply to find perhaps slightly healthier ways of managing those expectations in those emotions.
