Bonaparte's Battle of Lodi
Bonaparte had achieved in two weeks what the french had not been able to accomplish in three years. But napoleon was just getting warmed up. Having conquered the sardinians, the rump of the shocked austrian army retreated east into lombardy. Bonaparte's army gave chase and finally caught up with them at a river crossing in the town of lodi. The resulting battle of lodi is famous for two contributions to the mythical lore that would soon surround napoleon.
