How to Relate to Pain
The first step in relating to pain skillfully is to take a very direct look at what pain is. We find that there's an experience of certain sensations. Burning, stabbing, throbbing, pulling, pressure, tightness. Whole range of sensations that we feel. When we come to the actual sensation level, what happens is that the solidity of the concept, my leg hurts, or there's pain in my knee, that solidifies. That makes something solid and unchanging.
