The Difference Between Commissions and Sales Models
Commission models are based on the idea that you have to motivate performance. The way you get this performance out of salespeople is you put a money value on it. If I have an experienced salesperson, I'm going to pay them more than a junior sales person. But the difference is the transactional nature of commission. We've known since the 50s that money is not a good motivator for complex cognitive load.
