Babeuf's Disdain for the Urban Mobs

Babeuf was jailed in 1795 for advocating a form of agricultural communism. He argued that all land should be nationalized and grain distributed on an equal basis. His ideas were initially shunned by the members of the pantheon club as exactly the kind of dangerous radical they did not need in their midst. The tribune of the people began to roll off the presses, being read aloud at secret meetings within the marxus pantheon. Babuf helped the left along its road to resurgent but slowly but surely reclaiming power.
