We're just born into it. Like these roles and responsibilities we can have, he says. And that just makes you realize, well, hang on, why am I doing that to myself? It's socially constructed. But if we think about, obviously, like Maslow's hierarchy of needs, there is a need to get food on the table. There's a need to do enough to survive. That requires some level of participation in society. So yeah, how we treat each other becomes essential. That's where self-compassion, that dialogue about ourselves, that we're kind to who we are and nurture our child self that is always with us.
