How to Stop Running From Triggers
In the midst of a trigger response, one thing you can do is just place your hand on your heart and your other hand on your belly. Extend compassion towards it. Be calm in the presence of it. There's a lot of ways to interrupt the pattern of the trigger so that you don't have to run from it but instead self soothe in the moment. Why do we have this tendency to even run from our triggers? Because the feelings behind them are so impermissible.
