Do You Get the Last One Right?
A student rubs off their answer as soon as the board goes down and they got it wrong. They often do not come away with clarity about whether they were right or wrong. So I always just go to them and say, by the way, did you get the last one right? And then I go to teach them. The ones that are most likely to come up in another lesson seem most likely to be heard. Do you never underestimate the power of being right about this stuff? We spend a lot of time focusing on what we think students don't want to hear.
