The Habit Loop of Anxiety

Any habit is formed in a three step process. Really, it takes trigger, or a cue, and then a behavior, and then, from a brain prorspective, a reward. So for example, anxiety is unpleasant, so that could be the cue. The behavior could be to eat, to go in social media, even to worry. Worrying makes people feel like they are in control, even if they aren't. It's rewarding to our brain to say, he you know, you're worrying, at least you're doing something. And that reward feeds back and tells our brain, he next time you're anxious, you should worry some more. That's how
