Introduction

Dr. Montepatric sits down with George Brooks, a professor in the Department of Integrative Biology at the University of California, Berkeley. He's really the pioneer of research that he proposed back in the early 80s that has to do with lactate generated from muscle during exercise. We'll dive into that in a few minutes, but before we get started I want to mention just a couple of things about lactate: It is something that is produced during exercise and it's used by the heart and the brain as a preferred source of energy.
