In car accidents, obese occupants had a 54 to 61% higher risk of injury compared to normal weight occupants. When we venture into being overweight or obese, we have increased dysfunction in something called immunosurveillance. This is essentially our immune system's capability of identifying pathogens and threats to our system. We can't address this issue if we don't know that it exists.
