Using Biobank Data to Predict Polygenic Variants
Theoretically, it's all just bigger sample sizes, right? If the heritability is out there, we have the tools. It's just the sample sizes need to be bigger. I was one of the lead authors on the largest Czech Association study of educational attainment done today. So that was using three million samples. And we actually only gained a little bit of predictive power over the previous study, which is on a million samples. We can now predict around 12 to 17% of the variation and how many years of school you get from your genotype. But yeah, it's going to take way, way bigger samples to substantially improve that.
