The Start and Finish Lines on the Track

We always want to first know where the start and finish line is on the track. And you'll find an absolutely straight line across the track, at the very end of a straightway. The other one is the five thousand meter start line. Now this is probably only appropriate when you're running a race. But if you are doing a tempo run for example, you might want to go run five kms before the starting line. So it's helpful to know that ause a track is 400 meters long, if you start on the finish line and run a lap, you're gong to run 400 meters in lane one.
