The Effects of Mindfulness Meditation on Pro Social Reparative Behaviors

Researchers looked at whether mindfulness meditation reduces the influence of guilty feelings on pro social reparative behaviors. In one experiment, participants wrote about a time in their lives when they wronged someone and were asked to think of a transgression for which they had not apologized. After that meditation people reported how much they experienced self-focus versus other focus as well as how much love they felt during the recording. And so this suggests strongly that mindfulness was effective at disrupting the normal motivational consequences of these negative social emotions.
