The Role of Biomechanics in Patellar Tendonopathy
The only biomechanical issue that is absolutely linked to patellar tendonopathy in the literature and in clinical practice is a poor range of dorsiflexion. In basketball, anterior impingement of the ankle from repeated ankle screens and repeated jumping can be a real problem. A rigid supernative foot means you get less shock absorption when you land from your foot and ankle complex and your calf complex. And you get some force transmission to your knee. The only mechanics that create a problem in patella tendonopathy are low arched feet with little or no dorso-dorsalflexion.
