The Disengagement of Staff Physicians

I find one of the big drivers of disengagement at my place is working hard to achieve these arbitrary metrics that don't actually relate to delivering excellent care. I think we in fact now can't know everything and the best doctors are the ones who are constantly studying and looking things up. We need to start teaching that as our ideal doctor rather than this mythical person who happens to have it all locked down in their head because that myth is no longer achievable. The body of medical knowledge is exploding so fast that that has literally become impossible.
