Stack Ranking Systems Aren't a Good System for Humans

Microsoft is famous for having a forced ranking system where you basically in every review cadence at least my understanding is the manager basically forced ranks their team from top to bottom and they exit the bottom x percent. I just don't believe that humans can objectively measure performance at that level of accuracy like at the end of the day a bunch of bias and subjectivity is involved in these things so I've become a believer in broader buckets with a range.
