Climate Change - What's Our Ob Ation to Help the World?

It takes nine calories fed to a chicken to get one calory back out. We're literally burning down the amazon rain forest in order to grow. Entire cities are going to be wiped out. And it's the economies that are least able to deal with these impacts. What do you do with the argument that in the developing world they require more or less the same career we had, with building their economies based on an industrial and nineteenth century style industrial revolution? Preservation alone should dictate that we figure out how to do this.
