There's no question that our fruits and vegetables today are less nutritious than they were 25, 30 years ago. The cost of real food is four times higher than ultra processed food because of the consumer price index. If you're not going to get rid of all the food subsidies, how about tax the ultra processed food and use the money from the tax to subsidize real food? That would improve effective availability for people who need it most.
