The Importance of Training
I think this year it's the most stacked field I've ever seen. There is also very, very limited in competition drugs testing and there is zero out of competition drugs testing. Course record pace for Western States is probably eight minute myling on a 100 mile trail race. The only thing that really changed was his carbohydrate when he was unable to run sub two. He's taking on I think 95 grams of carbohydrate an hour at marathon pace,. And so yeah, it can be trained. It needs to be trained. But all I can focus on now is today's training, tomorrow's training, and just keep ticking off the boxes, keep getting the work done.
