The Effects of Gut Discomfort on Performance

Gut discomfort increases the amount of glycogen, as in your body's stored energy source usage. So if you gut discomfort is likely to make you then physically perform worse later in the race because it's going to use up your glycogen early. One study from my IP address supervisor from his PhD days, and they couldn't really explain it. But we are just thinking that perhaps overloading the system is not the best thing to do.
