Are the Russians Taking the Paintings for Safekeeping?
There was severe fighting near Kursen and the Russians realized that the Ukrainians were advancing. One week before the Russians actually left Kursen, they went to the museum and took almost all of the paintings. The idea that it was for the safe keeping of the artworks is dubious in all sorts of ways, isn't it? It's a difficult decision and it would be easier for me to make a judgment if I was on the ground.
