If you can't get past those first 30 seconds, or if you can't catch their interest in a very, very few number of words, you're screwed. In a discovery, you have the luxury that ignorantly you may be able to talk at a prospect for 30 minutes. You don't have that in a cold call. The money is made in handling the first, second, and third objection and booking the meeting and that's discovery.
