The Role of Meditation in Ageing
CNN's John Sutter talks about his work on telomeres, a cellular marker of aging. Telomeres are these caps that sit at the ends of chromosomes and protect them as we age. When they get too short, the cell dies or becomes inflamed; so you want to protect them through this enzyme telomerase. And then also mitochondria are very connected to telomeres. They're right next to them in the cell, next to the nucleus. So no wonder we're so exhausted when we're under chronic stress.
