Demonstratives is a very complicated way to say words like this and that. The most common sort of distinction in demonstratives is the distance. So by distance we mean this book is close to me, that book is remote for me. In non-standard English you could say this here book that their book. Swedish does that as well. It appears to be an area effect in Western Europe, but it's pretty rare elsewhere to do things this way.
