How Do You Know if You're Biased?
People spend between six to 10 seconds evaluating someone CV or resume before they decide if they want to bring them to interview. People with African-American surnames need to send out 50% more CVs to get the same rate of call back for interview, even when they're equally qualified for the job. And along the way, people also pick up unconsciously random details that have no relationship to job performance like where I live or what my ethnic association has been.
