Being obese is associated with taking seven years off the lifespan. Extreme morbid obesity studies have shown that 14 years can be taken off lifespan, which is very significant. Obesity increases the risk not only of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease, but it also doubles the risk of many different types of cancer and neurodegenerative disease like Alzheimer's Disease.
