When you are able to be kind to yourself, it shifts you into engagement of your parasympathetic nervous system. It has an even more powerful effect because when you stop beating yourself up, then it allows you to see the world through a different lens. And what I found for myself was, if you're angry and hostile as I was as a child, that does have a relationship with your relationships with other people. You know, unfortunately, that can be tempered by unconscious bias about race or assessment of whether they could potentially be a criminal or something.
