How to Examine a Patient With Weakness

The first thing is always observation. It's easy to jump into confrontational strength testing, but that's actually only a portion of the motor exam. The reflex test is one of my favorites because it's quite objective and you get a look at both afferent and eferent structures in many places along the nerve axis. There are certainly examination findings that can help us with the localization as well.
