The Role of Carbohydrates and Fats in the Body

A calorie is a unit of energy. The energy has to be coming from somewhere and that's where macronutrients come in. There's protein, carbs or carbohydrates and fats. Fats are the last macronutrient, and they're important for a number of functions inside the body. We need to realize that again, protein is not a great fuel source so the rest of the calories throughout the day should be coming from fat or carbs based on your activity goals.
