What's the Point of War in Western Culture?
i think that certainly it's become very much a feature of modern culture, the way in which these ideas of war have replicated down through the centuries. And i think one of the problems is that so much of our analytical ideas about war,. i'll developed within the western context, understandably so. What we haven't really brought into the equation is understanding other societies, which range enormously. One has imperial societies such as the ancient persia, the greeks fought, or china in the eighteenth century. And tribal warfare societies. So this variety needs to be encompassed within our understanding, right?
