How to Develop Positive Thoughts

As the body ages, you have to keep it up or it declines. So one of the things that older bodies like is weight training. A thought that produces an afflictive experience might be a good way to think about it. We do have agency in how we regulate our emotions. If there's an emotional response that exceeds the window of tolerance, then we have an emotional event that needs to be regulated through thinking.
