Is it optimal for people to be on a ketogenic diet when they are exercising heavily or is it optimal for exercise performance and gaining muscle? I would say no. But if you want to enhance body composition in regards to maximum fat loss and muscle retention, that's probably superior for some people. If your protein is adequate and sufficient, you're not going to risk muscle loss if you get your protein in. And you don't have to go crazy with protein.
