Biofilm and Retaining Hardware Infections

Bacteria in biofilm or in these chronic infections are not actively dividing, they are more tolerant of antibiotics and therefore difficult to kill. So the best approach is to physically remove as many of them from the body as you can. And that's why we have so much trouble eradicating any sort of infection that involves a retained prosthetic device. The key it's microscopic it's hard for our surgical colleagues to know they've gotten rid of it with simple agreements.
