Introduction
The thyroid gland is a butterfly shaped organ that sits along the interior aspect of the tracual rings, inferior to the larynx. It exists as part of a signalling cascade with the hypothalamus and the anterior petuitary gland, which are located in the brain. The hypo thalamus is able to detect whether there are high or low levels of thyroid hormone circulating in the blood. T r h then reaches the anteriorpetuitary gland via the hypophysial portal system, which is a network of capillaries. And to day, your patient has hyperthyrodism, and you are the doctor.
