In the 19 thirties, women begin to articulate political position that is anti statis and populist. They are picking up on the language of populist opponents of franklin roosevelt in the 19Thirties. And they argue their role as women is to fight not just the state, but to look out for their own i would put it. In the in the earlier period, maternalism was the way that women argued they belonged in politics as to take care of the nation especially those who were disadvantaged.
