The Pros and Cons of Perfectionism
A lot of times our destructive behaviors are ones that serve a short term need, which is I am feeling absolutely overcome with some negative emotion. And so we have this perfectionistic part that's striving, well intentioned, striving to protect us from feeling that way. And then the day happens and you move wrong, or you, you know, that proactive strategy just doesn't quite work. And in comes the arrow of criticism. We don't want to feel that stuff.
