The Five Hindrances to Enlightenment

The five hindrances are desire, aversion, disinterest, agitation and indecision. They're considered to be obstacles because they keep us from being mindful. In a way, it's like they blind us by keeping us totally focused on them. We don't want to repress or condemn these mental states when we experience them. The key is to understand that you can't just wish these things away.
